The Rise Of The Robots - Government Tests Driverless Lorries

Posted by Matthew on 6th March 2016

It's not quite the rise of the robots we might have feared. But it still could strike terror in to the hearts of HGV drivers everywhere - The British government is beginning trials of the first fleet of driver less lorries.

The trial will take place in 2016 in Cumbria. The vehicles move in a convey, which allows large savings in fuel. It can also reduce congestion, improve journey times and motorway flow efficiency.

Don't fear quite yet though. All current vehicles require a trained driver on board - on alert to jump in if things get hairy!
